Remarks |
Walter was born in 1890, son of John and Mary Parker of Middle Coombe cottage, South Pool. When war broke out he had been working as a butcher in Kingsbridge. He continued his trade in the ASC from 1914. In March 1918 he was home on leave and a relative recalls him sitting by the Creek, in his uniform. Three weeks later he was killed by a shell whilst distributing food to his regiment in France. He is buried in the Canada Farm Cemetery near Ieper in Belgium. Died aged 28. |
